November 4 - 25, 2023 Robert Chandler - Occupied Space new paintings   "I usually paint at night, finding some subject matter in the city around me, sometimes the pictures are the stuff of dreams, sometimes not. The more recent paintings I've done, start with a few spontaneous marks, or a specific colour applied to canvas. I take a bit of time with that first gesture, sit with it for awhile until it encourages me to make another, and then another. So it begins, we're off. Sometimes it gets kind of out of hand and I try to push through it, eventually it all stops. Nothing. Sometimes it turns out okay." Chandler, 2023  photo by N.MacLeod
